Letter from Secretary-Treasurer Walter Canta to Teamster Local 213 members
Dear Teamsters Local Union No. 213 Members,
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Community Building Standards Campaign!
The Community Building Standard has been initiated across Canada by our founding partners: Labourers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA), Canadian Piping Trades (UA), Teamsters Canada (IBT) and the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE).
This campaign is about creating a new Community Building Standard so that we ensure infrastructure projects in Canada are built the right way. This means ensuring major projects that are delivered across Canada are focused on three core principles – a commitment to safety and quality, investing in trades and apprenticeship training and leaving a positive community legacy.
These are especially important values to all British Columbians and our members have a strong track record of exhibiting them through great projects like the Kitimat Modernization Program and the John Hart Dam. It is our strong hope that we can have more great projects like these in the near future.
Show your support for the campaign by visiting our webpage and checking out our Facebook page and Twitter for regular updates.
Sincerely,
Walter Canta
Secretary-Treasurer
