New investment confirms SunRype is staying put in Kelowna

KELOWNA — It’s been a cornerstone in the Okanagan for nearly seven decades and is currently one of Kelowna’s biggest employers with 300 workers.

SunRype has made some big changes since opening its doors in 1946 and in the last few months alone unveiled a handful of new products and new packaging along with a big new investment: a $7-million dollar production line.

There were rumours with its recent privatization in the stable of Jim Pattison companies that headquarters would be heading south of the border.

That couldn’t be further from the truth according to the company’s president, Dave McAnreney, with this latest mutli-million dollar investment in new machinery proof he says Sunrype is staying put.

“I think the future is very bright at SunRype and am excited about what we’re doing. We think we’re bringing innovative new products to market fuel for 70 years to come.”

The new packaging and production system has been in place for the past few months, but Thursday was the official unveiling.
