Sun-Rype products, made by members of Teamsters Local 213 and produced for the most part in Kelowna, are
well known in B.C. and available throughout Canada and the U.S.
Since the company was incorporated in 1946, people’s tastes and preferences have changed and the company
has adapted to new demands. There is also an increasing demand for healthy foods and Sun-Rype products
have always been a good fit. Watch for Fruit Source, Fruit To Go, energy bars under the Okanagan brand
name, 200-calorie Fruit Activ bars and Happy Heart apple cinnamon bar.
Sun-Rype is one of the biggest private sector employers in the Okanagan. There are 200 members of
Teamsters Local 213 working at the plant and warehouse as machine operators, quality technicians, drivers,
forklift operators, shippers/receivers, trades mechanics, electricians, millwrights, carpenters, and
painters. Teamster members are covered by an eight-year agreement that carries on to 2020.
